2020 is the fifth year since Jia Deyu joined Ramu NiCo. From a line worker to the deputy superintendent of Hydro-mining section, Jia Deyu with his down-to-earth attitude and resilient personality, strives to meet his goal of driving continues production improvement in a safe manner.

Five years ago, Jia Deyu came to Papua New Guinea for the very first time. In the face of unfamiliar and challenging working environment, Jia overcame all difficulties and devote himself to work without any complaining. Since being appointed as the deputy superintendent for Hydro-mining section, Jia has been even more strict with himself, and always maintaining a modest, cautious, self-disciplined work attitude, which has won the trust and respect of his colleagues. Jia often encourages national employees to realize their self-value and make greater career achievements, hence to provide a better life for themselves and their families.

Hydro-mining is a new process for KBK Mine and there is not much experience to draw on. Jia through repeated research found a more practical and effective way of production. Going forward, Jia is ambitious to further refine the existing process for mining different areas and ore bodies.

Production and safety complement each other. The side slope in the mining pits poses safety risks for production. Jia combines the professional theory of safety management he learnt in site HSE Office with the actual operation on site, helping field employees to better identify and assess risks. Jia insisted on conducting awareness of Company’s safety rules to workers every day, and tirelessly explained the safety precautions during the operation, so as to keep all workers safe from any potential hazards on site.

Today, Jia Deyu has become more mature and reliable. No matter how challenging the work is, there is no fear on his face; No matter how difficult the environment is, he always works with high sense of responsibility, contributing in his own way to the safe and stable operation of the project.
