Ramu NiCo has recruited 20 new trainees on Monday this week who graduated in certain universities in their field of expertise in the country in its Graduate Training Scheme program.

In a significant ceremonial showcase, the 20 successful candidates received their job employment letters on 3rd of June in the presence of the Ramu NiCo vice president Mr. Meng Deyong, Ramu NiCo staff, representatives from the Labor and Mineral Resource Authority offices and representatives from the University of Technology and Divine Word University.

Deputy Human Resource Manager David Sisioni and Mr. Meng officially launched the Graduate Development Scheme and commissioning the 20 new trainees into the program.

Mr. Meng on behalf of the company welcomed the 20 Trainees to the company and explained that Ramu NiCo is owned by the two countries, Papua New Guinea and China and operated in six sites both in PNG and China.

He said the two years rotational program would provide on the job exposure to the fresh graduated students recruited from universities in the country and it is the company’s contribution to the human resource development of Madang and PNG as a whole.

Ramu NiCo Human Resource Manager Jeffers Teargun said the company wanted to create a system which it could create a pool of talented manpower to draw from when needs arise.

Mr Teargun said the 20 graduated trainees would be on job rotation for specific number of months till they complete the two years program which they signed the contract to do.

He said the training initiative also create employment for the people of Papua New Guinea who would also contribute to the economy of the country through tax rebates.

Divine Word University’s Director Partnership Melissa Kembol Anzu congratulated Ramu Nico for the effort it put to recruit the newly graduated students.

“We do our best to educate but it is companies like yours that shape and mold our young people to become leaders of tomorrow so thank you,” Ms Anzu said.
