Guided by the ideal of “One Ramu NiCo, One community”, we are committed to building a harmonious relationship with governments, communities, shareholders and various groups and maintain our “Social License to Operate”.
As Manager of the Ramu Nickel Joint Venture (RNJV), we inform and report our operation to our shareholders through monthly reports, quarterly Management Committee Meeting and other means.
In a Project area where over 20 thousand people reside and four Landowner Associations operate, we are actively engaged in public relation events with local governments, communities and public groups to promote dialogue and improve mutual understanding.
We are a member of the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum. As the operator of the largest investment in the Madang region, we have also joined the Madang Chamber of Commerce to establish ties with local business partners.
We maintain regular consultation with relevant agencies in the PNG national government like Mineral Resources Authority (MRA) and Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) as well as the Madang provincial government, to update the Project progress and discuss the issues to be resolved.
Through our Community Affairs personnel, we foster a close tie with the local level governments at Usino Bundi and Raicoast regions to ensure their supports for the development.

Paining Introduce Ramu Project to Local Governments
Since 2006 we maintain community medial stations in nearby villages and provide much-needed medicines and services. From time to time we organize awareness campaigns on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other diseases and conduct medial patrols in the Project community.
We assist the primary and secondary schools in the region in improving the education facilities by providing building materials and equipment. In the meantime, we regularly provide school fee assistance to the children of local landowners.
We have through our Community Affairs (CA) Department officers focusing on women and youth development programs. By teaching them relevant skills, we encourage more local women to participate in the Project , so as to increase the cash income of the family and improve the children’s welfare.
We respect that Papua New Guinea is predominantly a Christian country with various traditional beliefs across different parts. We work closely with the church institutions where possible. For example, We invite pastors to the Project site and arrange services to our employees with the need. We also sponsor the pastor graduation ceremony at Naru and other church events in the region.

We make donations and actively assist local social, cultural and sport activities, including the traditional Kangal cultural festival at Saidor, Raicoast, the Sustainable Development Forum of Divine Word University, Madang Provincial Sports Team, KBK Ramu Ants Rugby team, Basamuk sports meeting and MCC-Basamuk soccer game etc. These assistance are greatly appreciated by local people, particularly by local landowners.
