In March 2025, under the strategic planning and meticulous coordination of its executive leadership, Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited (hereafter “Ramu NiCo”) has been awarded the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System international certification through systematic and forward-looking safety management innovations. This milestone achievement not only signifies the full alignment of Ramu NiCo’s safety management framework with international standards but also underscores its role as China’s leading mining enterprise in the South Pacific region, demonstrating exemplary operational responsibility and management excellence. During the certification process, an international third-party authority conducted rigorous audits of Ramu NiCo’s institutional systems, implementation protocols, and on-site operations, validating its professional, standardized, and globally compliant capabilities in workplace safety.

Guided by the core philosophy of “safeguarding lives as the priority while advancing safety-oriented development,” Ramu NiCo’s leadership has systematically promoted the localization of international standards. The Corporate HSE Department coordinated cross-departmental efforts to implement the system through enhanced occupational health protocols, strengthened risk governance, and comprehensive employee engagement, laying a robust foundation for certification success.

Third-party auditors particularly commended Ramu NiCo’s outstanding performance across four dimensions:

  1. Systematized Safety Architecture: Ramu NiCo’s occupational health and safety management system not only fully complies with ISO 45001:2018 requirements but has evolved into an enterprise-specific safety model through continuous optimization, providing strategic support for sustainable operations.
  2. Dual-Prevention Mechanism Reinforcement: Integrating tiered riskcontrols with hidden hazard rectification, this dual-prevention framework achieves proactive risk mitigation and dynamic management, elevating intrinsic safety standards.
  3. Safety-Centric Organizational Culture: Anchored in a zero-harm objective and integrating Chinese and Papua New Guinean regulatory practices, immersive safety campaigns and all-staff participation have embedded safety principles in daily operations.
  4. Compliance-OrientedSocial Responsibility: A full-process compliance management system coupled with enhanced information transparency and multi-stakeholder oversight has systematically improved operational credibility and community trust.

Mr. Jia Xijun, Vice President of Ramu NiCo, stated: “The ISO certification represents both international recognition of our safety management capabilities and a new starting point. We will deepen safety management system optimization, advance the integration of safety culture with production practices, and create safer, sustainable environments for employees, partners, and communities. Concurrently, we aim to export China’s distinctive safety management practices through strengthened global collaborations, contributing Chinese wisdom to international mining safety governance.”

Looking ahead, Ramu NiCo will build on this certification to accelerate the integration of intelligent and green technologies into safety operations, foster international partnerships, and elevate its safety performance to even higher standards.
