Madang, July 29, 2025 — Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) in Port Moresby, marking a new chapter in school-enterprise cooperation aimed at expanding opportunities for academic practice, research, and graduate employment.

The MoU was signed on Tuesday by Mr. Meng Deyong, Vice President of Ramu NiCo, and Dr. Cecilia Nembou, Acting Vice Chancellor of UPNG, in the presence of representatives from both parties.

During the signing ceremony, Mr. Meng introduced Ramu NiCo as a company with advanced technology, comprehensive processing systems, and well-equipped on-site laboratories. He stated that the company is well-positioned to provide practical training and research platforms for UPNG students and faculty members.

“UPNG is a prestigious institution with a strong academic reputation and a highly capable talent pool. We hope this partnership will encourage more outstanding graduates to join Ramu NiCo and contribute to our ongoing development,” Mr. Meng said.

Dr. Nembou emphasized the unique position of Ramu NiCo in Papua New Guinea’s mining industry. “Unlike most of the country’s gold and copper mines, Ramu NiCo operates the only nickel project in PNG, featuring distinct technologies and processes that are of great academic and industrial interest,” she noted.

Both parties expressed great satisfaction with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and look forward to a mutually beneficial cooperation.
