Recently, with a focus on the theme of “behavior-based safety and work at height management”, Ramu NiCo simultaneously hosted a series of activities for the National Mining Safety Week at three locations: Madang Base, BSK Refinery, and KBK Mine. Through a series of activities featuring rich content and diverse formats, the initiative aimed to deepen all employees’ safety awareness and enhance their emergency response capabilities.
During the event, Ramu NiCo specially invited third-party professional institutions to deliver training on the development and enhancement of safety competency and training on improving emergency management skills, at BSK Refinery and KBK Mine. These training sessions systematically elaborated on the core points of safety competency and emergency management, strengthening employees’ awareness of safety responsibilities and emergency response skills.
Madang Base, integrating knowledge dissemination with cultural guidance, organized activities including safety knowledge learning, safety-themed speech, safety knowledge quiz, safety song performance, and safety poster selection. Through these diverse activities, employees deepened their understanding of safety concepts through interactive participation. Their awareness of behavioral safety norms was strengthened, and safety requirements were gradually internalized, effectively fostering a strong safety culture.
BSK Refinery, in line with its actual production conditions, organized activities encompassing safety poster selection, lecture and practical drill on work at height, safety and health lecture, multi-scenario emergency drills, and safety knowledge quiz. Through targeted lectures and practical drills on working at height, operational risks were directly addressed, and employee’s protective skills and adherence to operational standards were enhanced. Emergency drills included office building evacuations, fire rescues, and rope rescues for work at height, strengthening and testing employees’ emergency response skills.
KBK Mine focused on hazard identification and operational safety, organizing activities such as on-site hazard identification competition, picture-based hazard identification contest, emergency rescue drill, safety knowledge quiz, JSA compilation competition, and comprehensive safety inspection. These complementary activities effectively improved employees’ risk awareness and response capabilities, while enhancing their adherence to safe operational practices. Additionally, these activities improved coordination among risk prediction, on-site management, and emergency response, making the overall safety management system more standardized and efficient.
The successful organization of this series of activities for the National Mining Safety Week has effectively enhanced all employees’ awareness of safety responsibilities and emergency response capabilities, further solidifying the foundation of safety management. Taking this as an opportunity, Ramu NiCo will continue to deepen the development of safety culture, constantly improve the safety management system, drive safety production efforts toward standardization, refinement, and effectiveness, and foster a strong, organization-wide safety culture.
