Madang town came to a standstill on Friday, 29 August, 2025 in the Province’s biggest float parade in the history of the province.
It was the launching of the 50th Independence Anniversary celebration of the country and Madang people showed up in numbers to kick start what was expected to be the grand celebration of the anniversary.
Both nationals and foreigners showed up at the town’s Laiwaden Oval. Among them there was a pretty young Chinese woman.
As soon as the Ramu NiCo 25 seater white coaster bus pulled in beside the Raibus Truck which the company used to decorate for the Ramu NiCo float, Joy Deng and her friends hurried out and quickly explored what different corporate businesses showcased.
Joy had seen float parades in China, but not as creative as what was in front of her eyes. And what was more exciting was that her employer Ramu NiCo was the major sponsor of the event and she was actually a participant. Before joining Ramu NiCo, she used to be a spectator in similar parades in her humble Province Hunan in South China.
Joy fulfilled the meaning of her own name Joy, and joyously ventured into the crowd, half laughing and dancing as she discovered the splendid display of each float inside the history-making Laiwaden Oval.
To the amazement of some Papua New Guineas, Joy was actually doing the two step dance that many Papua New Guineans love doing and tagged her friends along with her and took photos to remember memories of the event.
When the float took off from Laiwaden Oval and hit the streets of Madang town for school children to see, Joy saw Madang town too.
“Now I have a comprehensive view of Madang town, and I am very excited about this experience,” Joy expressed.
Her people in Hunang Province in South China are friendly and loving just like the Madang people who promote the friendly culture and expressed as “Kagin” in the local Bel dialect.
Joy felt that she could easily get along with the local Madang people because they are just as friendly as people from her home province in China.
In her experience of the float parade, Joy will never forget the huge shark from Talidig, PNG Power display, the amazing artwork of a Bird of Paradise by Madang Technical College, traditional costumes and dancing on Sigma float, Air Niugini plane, Spiderman on the Police land cruiser Open back and many creative float displays.
She thanked Ramu NiCo for sponsoring the Madang Provincial 50th Independence Anniversary celebration and also for choosing her as one of the participants in the Ramu NiCo float.
Truly Ramu NiCo has shown that it cares for the community around it and also once again fulfills its slogan, One Ramu NiCo, One Community by being the major sponsor of the event.
Joy wishes PNG a Joyous 50th Anniversary celebration coming 16 September, 2025.
