Employees of Ramu NiCo working at the company’s Madang based office are now better equipped to respond to emergencies and handle workplace safety after completing a rigorous training program.

The training, which included safety awareness, fire extinguisher use, and hazard identification and management, was conducted over the course of two months by Trainer Edward Warkia. More than 100 employees, both PNG and Chinese nationals passed through the program and gained valuable knowledge and skills.

One of the highlights of the training was a fire demo, where participants learned how to properly use fire extinguishers and respond to fire emergencies.

They were also taught the importance of assembling at a designated meeting point and conducting headcounts in case of an emergency. According to participants, the training was highly informative and they now feel more confident in their ability to respond to emergencies at the workplace.

Some even suggested implementing regular emergency drills, such as earthquake, fire, and medical emergency drills to further enhance their skills.

“We learned a lot from this training and now feel more prepared to handle emergencies,” said Fiona Helori an employee attached to the Human Resource Department.

“It was also great to see both Chinese and national employees coming together and learning together,” She said.

The company’s management is pleased with the results of the training and is committed to continuing to prioritize workplace safety and emergency preparedness.

They believe that investing in employee training not only ensures their safety but also increases overall productivity.

Deputy General Manager for Human Resource Jeffers Teargun said Ramu NiCo plans to roll out regular emergency drills in the future to further reinforce the training and ensure that all employees are well-equipped to handle any situation.

Overall, the training program was a success and has left employees feeling more confident in their ability to handle emergencies in the workplace.

With the Ramu NiCo’s continued focus on safety and preparedness, employees can rest assured that they are in good hands.

Meanwhile all participants who attended the Safety training will receive Safety training certificates to prove they have acquired the safety training and can respond to emergency situations when emergencies arise.
