Ramu NiCo’s team of five PNG employees won the Group Bronze Award at the 2026 “China Copper Cup” Overseas Enterprise Territory Team Leader General Management Skills Competition, which concluded on October 22 in Chuxiong, Yunnan Province, China. All five team members also received the Excellent Presence Award in the individual events.
The competition brought together employees from 12 overseas enterprises in 10 countries to demonstrate their skills in frontline team management. Through a series of practical challenges covering workplace safety, operational procedures, communication and teamwork, participants were assessed on their management knowledge, technical skills and ability to work effectively as a team.
In preparation for the competition, Ramu NiCo sent its five participants to Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, for specialized training in team management and practical skills. During the competition, the team members worked closely together, supported one another and continuously refined their approach based on lessons learned from each event. Their strong cooperation and teamwork helped secure the Group Bronze Award.
Beyond the awards, the event provided a valuable opportunity for employees to exchange experiences with participants from other overseas enterprises, broaden their perspectives and gain practical insights into team management and workplace communication.
The experience also highlighted the value of international training and skills exchanges in developing local talent. Ramu NiCo will build on the lessons learned by strengthening employee training, enhancing frontline management capabilities and applying new knowledge and skills in daily operations. These efforts will contribute to safe and stable production while supporting the company’s ongoing commitment to local workforce development.
