Madang town residents will have a taste of amazing fireworks this 50th Independence Anniversary celebration, thanks to Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Limited.
Ramu NiCo presented a substantial amount to the Madang Provincial 50th Anniversary Celebration Committee at the town’s Laiwaden Oval Tuesday 22 July 2025.
Ramu NiCo Vice President Meng Deyong said Ramu NiCo is a responsible company and has always been supportive in community programs.
“Ramu NiCo stands to support events like this as part of its social obligations,” Mr Deyong said.
Chairman of the Madang Provincial 50th Anniversary celebration Committee Siegfried Beschel said the fund from Ramu NiCo would be spent on fireworks;
“This support will make it possible for us to provide fireworks,” Mr Beschel said.
He said the Madang 50th Anniversary Celebration would run for two full weeks starting 29 August, 2025.
Ramu NiCo is pleased to support this event that comes once every 50th years and being a corporate sponsor, it’s looking forward to slot a team in for the Madang Iron Man challenge during the event.
Apart from sponsoring the 50th Anniversary celebration, Ramu NiCo is proud to have delivered various community projects in the mine’s foot prints, something that the company achieved in its share of the 50 years of Independence in Papua New Guinea.
Since Ramu NiCo began operation in 2006, it has provided more than 4000 job opportunities for Papua New Guineas, shared royalties with 19 local level governments in the province,, funded the construction of classrooms and aid posts, sponsored scholarships for students in the project impact areas and engaged in various community activities.
Ramu NiCo stands proud to have also construct the world class wharf in its Basamuk refinery and the Banu Bridge over Ramu River that linked Madang province and the highlands before the government of Papua New Guinea rolled out its connect PNG Program.
