Jacky Ma Yanqiang is a young male Chinese employee at Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd.
At just 28 years old, he has taken on the challenge of working overseas, thousands of miles away from his home. But what makes him stand out is his commitment and determination to work and see different worlds and cultures across the globe.
Jacky works as an English translator at Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd.’s Corporate Office in Madang, Papua New Guinea. Having moved thousands of miles from his home, he has quickly adapted to life in a new country and become a valued member of the team.
Despite working far from home brings a little homesick, Jack feels it’s good to embrace a new culture and new local friends.
After joining Ramu NiCo in 2023, Jacky was amazed by the change and developments that Ramu NiCo was carrying out to change the lives and living conditions of people living along the Ramu NiCo project corridors.
Jacky learned that Ramu NiCo has funded aid posts, donated classrooms for schools, and constructed clean-water-supply project for communities, and he was impressed by that after a flood attacked communities, Ramu NiCo people bravely brought food to community people across the dangerous river. And, in the past 3 years, Ramu NiCo people have rescued over 100 hopeless people at sea due to ship malfunction or fuel running out. Moreover, Ramu NiCo People have been providing free medical rescue for surrounding community people for over 15 years and really helped a lot of people.
He really feels proud and happy to see these change and rescue. It brings hope and light to people in need. He believed that bringing happiness to others would also bring warmth and sunlight into our lives. “When I see kids are holding clean water with happy laughter and smile, I feel true happiness deep inside my heart.”
One of Jacky’s greatest happiness during work time is when he interacts with the local community, especially the children. He loves to share candies with kids.
“When I saw Daunagari watet project was completed and saw children playing under the running water taps that Ramu NiCo constructed, it made me very happy. And I also feel happy when I was in a road market and shared a few coins in my pocket with kids so they could buy some sweets. Be nice to others and others will be nice and warm to you,” Jacky said, smiling.
To him, these small kindnesses go a long way toward bridging the hearts close between people. He likes the beautiful natural scenery, special culture, kind people and cute kids here and hopes they all can have a nice life and future.
As a translator, Jacky plays a crucial role in the company’s operations by facilitating communication.
Jacky encourages young boys and girls in Papua New Guinea to learn English and knowledge as much as they can because English is a very useful language that could take them to see the world to explore and work in different places like he does today.
“English and knowledge will give you the wings to bring you to see a different and bigger world.”
He hopes to inspire others, both within the company and the local community, to embrace diversity and work together toward a common goal.
“Be nice to others, try to make the world warmer, and be diligent in study, and I believe your life will be full of sunlight.” With his strong spirit and dedication, Jacky will continue to make a difference to himself and people around him.
