The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) through the National Training Council has finally approved Ramu NiCo’s Three-Year Training and Employment Plan.
Ramu NiCo submitted the plan in February 2026 and got approval after five months of an assessment and verification process.
As part of an on-going monitoring and accountability of the Three-Year Training and Employment Plan, Ramu NiCo submitted the progressive report of the plan to the National Training Council on 17th July 2026.
When presenting the report, Ramu NiCo Vice President Mr. Meng Deyong said Ramu NiCo has been implementing the 3YTEP since it was approved.
“The Company is recruiting more landowners and providing training for them,” Mr. Meng said.
“We have trained and arranged trade tests for 63 local employees in the past year, and they were found to be competent by NATTB in various trade levels, and we plan to continue with this trend,” Mr Meng added.
“Our industrial training and graduate development programs are some of the highlights in the training and development programs within our company,” he said.
While appreciating the tremendous work Ramu NiCo is doing to provide employment and training for the local people, the National Training Council Director Kinsella Geoffrey said the Council is pleased with the amount of work being put into the implementation of Ramu NiCo’s Three-Year Training and Employment Plan.
“These are work in progress, but we appreciate the initial steps Ramu NiCo is taking to implement the Government-sanctioned training and employment plan,” said Mr. Geoffrey.
The presentation was witnessed by officers from the National Training Council and the Human Resources Deputy General Manager of Ramu NiCo, Mr. Jeffers Heptol Teargun.
