The Raibus Group of Companies, a major umbrella company related to Ramu Nickel and Cobalt Mine, has marked a significant milestone by making its first-ever participation at the 2026 Community Affairs and National Content Conference and Exhibition (CANCONEX) and Papua New Guinea Resources Week held at the APEC Haus in Port Moresby.
The landmark event provided Raibus Group of Companies with an opportunity to showcase its expanding portfolio of services while engaging with leaders from the mining, petroleum, and energy sectors, government representatives, landowner organisations, and business partners from across Papua New Guinea.
Raibus Group of Companies Chairman Mr. Moses Kumura said, “The name Raibus comes from the three major customary landowners along the Ramu Nickel and Cobalt Project in Madang Province. ( Rai = Raicoast , b = Bundi and u = Usino ) that paved the way for the name of the largest landowner umbrella company that now provides security services, catering, and owns resorts in Madang, Morobe and now venturing into Port Moresby for business ventures.
The Raibus Group of Companies Chairman, the only successfully managed landowner company, said being part of the country’s premier gathering for the resources sector during PNG Resources Week and CANCONEX represented more than just a business showcase.
“It demonstrated Raibus Group of Companies’ commitment to supporting national content initiatives and strengthening Papua New Guinea’s local business participation in the resources industry,” Mr. Moses Kumura.
The company featured its Security Services Business and its Engineering Business to provide perspective at the APEC Haus as part of its inaugural participation, which also reflects its vision of expanding beyond project support services and positioning itself as a competitive Papua New Guinean company capable of delivering quality services to the country’s growing resource sector.
The 2026 PNG Resources Week, held from 13 to 16 July at APEC Haus, brought together government leaders, mining companies, landowners, investors, service providers, and community representatives under the theme of advancing Papua New Guinea’s resource sector beyond the nation’s first 50 years of independence. The event featured CANCONEX, the PNG Resources Summit, exhibitions, and networking sessions aimed at strengthening collaboration across the industry.
Raibus Group’s successful debut at CANCONEX 2026 marks the beginning of what the company hopes will become an ongoing presence at Papua New Guinea’s premier resource industry event.
Company officials said they received positive feedback and are looking forward to building on the connections established during the event and continuing to contribute to the growth of the country’s resource sector while creating employment and business opportunities for Papua New Guineans.
