Ramu NiCo has once again delivered a significant community development project at Iguruwe Primary School, a newly constructed teachers’ house on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The new teachers’ residence was officially opened by Ramu NiCo Community Affairs General Manager Eric Kuman during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives of the company, landowners, school authorities and the local community.
The teachers’ house was funded by Ramu NiCo and delivered through the Inland Pipeline Landowners Association under its Community Development Fund (CDF) roll-out program
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr Kuman said Ramu NiCo was pleased to continue working with landowners as a development partner to provide essential services and infrastructure to communities located along the company’s project corridors.
He said the company remained committed to supporting communities and contributing to projects that directly benefited local people, particularly in areas such as education.
Mr Kuman also encouraged landowners to look after the project and the infrastructures delivered to community.
Iguruwe Primary School Head Teacher Dennis Singiat expressed his appreciation to Ramu NiCo for responding to the school’s accommodation challenges.
Mr Singiat said when he first arrived at the school in 2025, the situation was extremely challenging, with seven teachers having to live in houses that were in very poor condition.
He said the school had managed to build one teachers’ house and allocate it to the teacher living in the worst-conditioned accommodation.
However, the need for additional accommodation remained, then Ramu NiCo comes to help and assist the school with the construction of another teachers’ house.
Mr Singiat thanked Ramu NiCo and the Inland Pipeline Landowners Association for supporting the school and helping improve the living conditions of its teachers.
He said the new house would provide much-needed accommodation and contribute to creating a better environment for teachers to live and work.
Usino Bundi District Education Program Manager Jeffery Lemek also welcomed the project and urged landowners and community members to take ownership of the infrastructure provided to the school.
Mr Lemeck called on landowners to protect and maintain the school buildings, including the newly constructed teachers’ houses.
He said the infrastructure was an important investment in the education of children in the area and should therefore be properly maintained for the benefit of both current and future students and teachers.
The completion and opening of the new teachers’ house represents another milestone in Ramu NiCo’s ongoing community development partnership with landowners and communities along its project corridors.
Through the CDF initiative, projects such as teachers’ accommodation are helping address essential community needs while strengthening cooperation between Ramu NiCo, landowner associations and local communities.
